Hello, I’m
Fric

Jr. Business Developer Life Sciences and Health
How did you end up at Catalyze and what do you do in your daily work?
After completing my Master’s in Biomedical Sciences, I applied for a position in the Business Development team. Initially, they were looking for someone with more work experience. I started as an Associate Business Developer, supporting the Business Development team in their contact with clients. In this role, I learned a lot on the job—about different grant opportunities, the services Catalyze offers, and the many questions clients may have. I now apply this experience in my current role as a Business Developer. In this position, I aim to understand our clients’ research and innovations as well as possible. Based on this, I assess which grants they may be eligible for. Together, we then explore which grant best fits their situation and where their chances of success are the highest.
Can you describe how you make an impact on your clients in your daily work?
Most of the responsibility in my current role lies in informing clients—identifying upcoming grant opportunities and determining which ones could be a good fit for them. To do this well, you need to do your homework and dive into the details to fully understand the client’s needs and possibilities. The grant landscape can be quite complex and difficult to navigate. I try to make this easier by helping clients find their way through it and by presenting the most suitable opportunities.
Can you describe what you like about your team, your colleagues, the collaboration within Catalyze, and the company culture?
For me, the team is the most important aspect of enjoying work. The Business Development team, just like the rest of the company, is a young and friendly group where I quickly felt at home. Everyone is willing to help and answer questions whenever needed. In addition, I’ve also gotten to know my colleagues in a social setting during after-work drinks, which makes the workplace even more enjoyable.
What would you like to say to your future colleagues?
Through this work, I stay up to date with the latest developments in the Life Sciences field and learn how to approach them from a business perspective. This combination of science and business is exactly what I was looking for in my first job. If that’s what you are looking for as well, feel free to connect—I’d be happy to tell you more about my time here.
