Managing Consultant Life Sciences and Health

How did you end up at Catalyze and what do you do?
I am a Managing Consultant at Catalyze with previous extensive experience in industry and academia. I earned my PhD in Cell & Molecular Biology at the University of Wisconsin and completed a postdoc at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York. My interest in bridging research and product development led me to consulting, first in equity research in New York, then as a team lead at a CRO in India. Catalyze offered an opportunity to work on innovative projects with a wider impact. As a Managing  Consultant, next to heading a team of Consultants, I co-develop funding applications and business plans to bring scientific innovations to market.

Can you describe how you make an impact for your clients in your daily work?
Clients come to Catalyze when they are in the early stages of an idea and are unsure of how to finance their next steps.  This is where we step in to identify and work together on the best funding opportunities for their next steps and bring them closer to realizing their vision. This work can range from working on academic grants together to brainstorming business plans.  A large part of my role is to also help clients create new partnerships to complement their expertise. We see that the strategic partnerships we initiated continue beyond project end and result in long-term collaborations. Overall, clients gain a critical friend in us who is equally invested in their success.

Can you describe what you like about your team, your colleagues, the collaboration within and the culture of Catalyze?
What makes Catalyze unique is the culture prioritizing open communication and collaboration. Everyone is incredibly helpful and open to collaboration and there is a great deal of team spirit. All my colleagues at Catalyze are incredibly knowledgeable and are always available to brainstorm challenging projects or catch up over a coffee. The social calendar is also quite fun and a nice way to connect with people from other teams and destress after challenging deadlines.

What would you like to say to your future colleagues?
If you like working on challenging projects and want to see your work make a broad positive impact, I strongly recommend applying to Catalyze. This is also a supportive environment where you can find your own path and are not limited by rigid growth plans. There is also a nice balance of work and social activities!
